And it’s expected to get a lot worse in the future. So who wants to talk about a problem which cannot be changed, and that nobody can fix?

For the past thirty to forty years, the treatment of weight reduction and obesity has been hijacked by groups of pseudo, non-medical experts. They have created a niche market, and based it on unchallenged dogma which has never been tested by genuine science or trialed with human subjects.

To prove their theories, these ‘experts’ have launched a number of diets over the past thirty to forty years. All of them have been dismal failures, and all of them have been discredited….Eventually.

In the world of Diet and Nutrition, the test subjects for these unproven theories have always been the public…us.

The medical profession appears to have happily handed over the entire area of ‘weight problems’, like a hot potato. They still seem to show no interest until obesity threatens to develop into diabetes. This has left an opportunity for untested, homemade theories which have persisted for close to four decades. These theories have evolved to become unchallenged dogma.

What we have now are ‘Experts’ who have managed to turn a simple condition like a weight problem, into a very complicated voodoo science which can only be handled by ‘experts’. From the onset, their intervention has seen weight problems go from a minor irritation forty years ago, when people knew what to do about it. - To mass obesity where people can no longer handle their own weight problems. That means they are forced to turn to the ‘experts’. When they do, they are put on a diet which will inevitably cause them to put all the weight back on again, plus a little extra.

What happens is that with each new diet, the dieter becomes ever more resistant to weight loss and when they stop the diet, the weight quickly returns, greater and more resistant than before the diet. Is it any wonder so many people give up this ordeal and decide to let things be.

So how did this happen?

Like so many things, it began in the late sixtieths, early seventieth when new fads abounded. Some people, who worked on the fringes of pseudo medicine, decided to carve themselves a niche in the area of health and nutrition.

They were soon joined by other enthusiasts. These people were not doctors or scientists, but this was a new field so nobody interceded when they set themselves up as guardians of health and nutrition. They were excited about something new called cholesterol. This was a lucky break for them. Most people, at that time, would have shown a high cholesterol count, largely due to a diet which had changed very little for centuries. So the 'experts' adopted cholesterol as their base for legitimacy and authority.

What they did is add together the two types of cholesterol, the good and the bad, (The good count, HDL, should always be higher than the bad LDH and the difference is your true cholesterol count). Instead they added the numbers together and created as very high, false reading for just about everybody. So the ‘experts’ now had a platform of authority. What they needed was a product.

Since weight was not the problem it is today, they developed an ultra high carbohydrate diet which was aimed to reduce cholesterol. The diet did not undergo genuine scientific tests or human trials to support the claims that this was the ultimate healthy diet for everyone. Nor for that matter, did any of their later diets. We now know that had such tests been conducted none of those diets would ever have been approved.

The problem does not rest with the dieter,
the problem is the diet.

The ‘experts’ undoubtedly believe in their own voodoo. It has been around long enough for them to forget how or where it originated. Their intentions have always seemed sincere, but a good intention is just that, a good intention. It has never proved to help anyone.

People were not designed to eat the diet these ‘experts’ recommend and evolution doesn’t work fast enough to adapt to radical changes which were never designed by nature. Nature managed very well for centuries, without calorie counters, without diets, or nutritionist or dieticians. We have allowed ourselves to be re-designed by people who should never have been trusted with our health and welfare. We have accepted their bad advice, and their misguided, damaging diets. Let’s stop it……Right now, while we can still reverse the process.

Just because something sounds really healthy
or ‘green’ does not mean that it is!

‘Natural’ is not inherently good’, nor is ‘green’. If you doubt this, just remember that Arsenic and opium, amongst many other deadly substances, are also naturals.

The first, highly publicized diet, promoted by our ‘experts, was launched with a poster of a pyramid depicting the various food groups. The base was 30% solid carbohydrates. Next was fruit and vegetables, also carbohydrates.

People thought; finally some modern advice about food, instead of the boring menu grandma recommends. The credibility of that pyramid, lasted for around twenty years, and it lingered on much longer. At least three generations grew up on it. It advocated a diet of around 10% protein. Protein happens to be the building blocks for growing strong and healthy children. But no one suggested an age limit on that diet.

The fact is, the food still being recommended today is nothing like the diet which allowed human beings to evolve and grow strong and healthy and which until the mid to late twentieth century, kept most people at a healthy, normal weight.

It is now thirty to forty years since these ‘experts completely changed our diet. There are not that many people around who remember how rare obesity was before the advent of the ‘Nutritionist’. In those days, when someone would put on a bit of weight, they either cut down on food for a few weeks, or they did some exercise. It was never called a ‘condition’ and most certainly never an epidemic.

Things are about to change...

There has been a valiant effort by these ‘experts’ to protect their domain. They have been strongly supported by snack food and cereal manufacturers. It’s going to have to stop. Laura DewsKirsten, love your book, it brought back a memory, after I had my one and only child and gained 60 lbs due to bakery's,( and I have to tell you I don't eat sweets, but for some reason when I was pregnant you couldn't keep me away from them) anyway the way I lost that weight was eating hard boiled eggs with some cottage cheese and a couple slices of lunch meat, usually mock chicken, I still like it to this day, and when I had a salad I would put some tuna in it!, Let me know when you get your blog up, thanks.

Craig HesserKirsten Plotkin is a colleague in an Internet marketing group, and that is how she (in Australia) and I (in Italy) managed to meet. Before I saw and read her book, I had already found her to be a truly serious person in a number of ways, not in the least, in terms of her dedication to her goals and aspirations. I was, for many years, an independent representative for a large international company that provides weight control measures for it’s clients. The company claimed at that time (and I expect still does) that type 2 diabetes can be controlled and even eliminated by the proper dietary measures. Kirsten Plotkin has proved that statement independently, at least on an individual basis, and this book is the evidence that it works, at least in the form of Kirsten’s plan.

Kirsten became her own experiment. As such, she achieved all the advantages she had hoped for, and more. My personal experience, plus common sense, confirms logically what she has demonstrated. I truly believe that Kirsten Plotkin’s nutritional plan (it is not a diet, as she states) should be a genuine benefit for the vast majority of the obese populations of the world today. I, for one, will make the program My Own Plan and will start with it for myself and my wife as soon as I return from my present business trip. I don’t expect miracles, only wonders! I wish Kirsten the best with her book, because she already has obtained the primary benefit for her own health.
